The HOPP Summer Student Program is an 8-week biomedical research internship hosted by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, one of the world's leading cancer research institutions. Students are paired with mentors in MSK research laboratories, where they conduct independent research projects in areas such as cancer biology and cell and molecular research. In addition to hands-on lab work, participants take part in professional and personal development activities throughout the program. Students receive a $1,200 stipend, making this a rare and exceptional opportunity to gain real-world research experience at a prestigious institution.
Designing studies, testing hypotheses, and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
Running experiments safely and accurately using real scientific equipment and procedures.
Evaluating information carefully before drawing a conclusion or making a decision.
Breaking down a challenge and working through it methodically to a solution.
Making sense of numbers and datasets to find patterns, test ideas, and support decisions.
Students conduct independent biomedical research projects in MSK labs under mentor supervision, directly mirroring medical research work.
Program focuses on cancer biology and cell & molecular research areas with hands-on lab-based internship experience.
Students develop technical lab skills and work on biomedical research projects supporting principal investigators' objectives.
Program bridges lab and clinical work through exposure to translational medicine and Memorial Hospital clinical departments.
