ResearcHStart is a free, eight-week summer cancer research training program run by UChicago Medicine and open to high school juniors and seniors from Illinois and Lake County, Indiana. Participants work full-time (35 to 40 hours per week) in the laboratories of established cancer researchers at leading institutions including the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and Rush University. Students gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge fields such as cancer immunology, bioengineering, and experimental cancer therapeutics, all while earning a $3,000 stipend. It is one of the most selective and immersive research opportunities available to high school students in the region.
Designing studies, testing hypotheses, and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
