UC Santa Barbara's Summer Research Academies is a four-week pre-college program that places high school students directly into university-level research under the mentorship of active UCSB scholars across STEM, humanities, and social science fields. Participants enroll in a 4-unit university course, developing an original research project that culminates in a capstone presentation to peers and faculty. Students also attend the GRIT talks lecture series, where they hear from leading UCSB researchers and build professional and academic networks. It is a rare opportunity for high schoolers to experience authentic university research and gain skills that stand out in the college admissions process.
