The United States Senate Page Program is a highly selective civic engagement program that allows high school students to work directly in the U.S. Senate while continuing their education. Sponsored by individual senators, participants serve as pages and assist with the daily operations of the Senate by delivering legislative materials, supporting senators and staff, and helping prepare the chamber for sessions. Students live in Washington, D.C. with other pages and attend the Senate Page School, where they take rigorous classes that align with their high school curriculum. The program combines academics with real world government experience, giving students firsthand exposure to the legislative process. Pages observe debates, witness votes, and gain insight into how laws are discussed and passed at the national level. The schedule is demanding, often requiring long hours and strong time management as students balance coursework with their responsibilities in the Senate. Participants are expected to demonstrate maturity, responsibility, and professionalism throughout the program. The experience helps students develop leadership skills and a deeper understanding of public service. Overall, the program offers a unique opportunity to engage directly with the inner workings of the United States government.
