The JS Bach Competition is a prestigious annual competition for string players ages 16 to 30 who perform works by J.S. Bach for unaccompanied violin, viola, or cello. Competitors prepare and perform Partitas, Sonatas, or Suites by Bach, with both modern and baroque instruments welcome, and advance to a finals event held at Stony Brook University. Performances are evaluated by a distinguished jury of professional musicians, and top competitors earn substantial recognition for their artistry. Winners receive a $10,000 grand prize along with six paid performance engagements, making this one of the most rewarding competitions available to young string players.
