The Holiday Carol Commission Competition is an annual composition contest hosted by the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir that invites composers age 35 and younger, including high school students, to submit original choral works for SATB mixed choir. Submissions must be unpublished, between 3 and 5 minutes in length, and set to holiday or Christmas-themed text. The winning composer receives a $2,500 cash prize and has their piece premiered and performed by the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir. This free competition is a remarkable opportunity for young composers to gain real-world recognition and hear their music brought to life by a professional choral ensemble.
