WIE RISE! An Introduction to Engineering Research is a virtual summer program offered by the Women in Engineering Program at the A. James Clark School of Engineering at the University of Maryland for students in grades 9 through 12. Over five days, participants explore a wide range of engineering disciplines including aerospace, bioengineering, chemical, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, fire protection, materials science, and mechanical engineering. Students engage in virtual lab tours, demonstrations, and lessons on scientific research papers, gaining real exposure to what engineering research looks like at the university level. Available for just $25, this program is an excellent opportunity for young women interested in engineering to build foundational knowledge and confidence before college.
