The Rio Grande Valley Summer Science Internship (RGVSSI) is a six-week summer research program offered by UTHealth Houston's School of Public Health for high school juniors and seniors. Selected students are matched with faculty mentors and complete 120 hours of hands-on, university-level research in a field aligned with their interests. The program culminates in a formal research presentation to faculty, family, and community members, giving students a genuine taste of academic science. Participants also receive a $750 stipend upon completion, making this one of the most valuable and immersive science opportunities available to high school students in the Rio Grande Valley.
