Meaningful Gardens is a community engagement program organized by Meaningful Engagement that teaches high school students hands-on agricultural skills to address food insecurity and water scarcity in underserved communities. Participants learn to sprout seeds and build hydroponic gardening systems, then apply those skills to establish real community gardens in areas most affected by food insecurity. The program places a particular emphasis on serving Black and Hispanic communities that face disproportionate barriers to food access, combining environmental sustainability with meaningful social justice work. It is a powerful opportunity for students who want to make a tangible difference in their communities while gaining practical skills in agriculture and civic engagement.
