Austin, TXOne summer (multi-week program)

The Healthcare Experience in Research and Oncology (HERO) is a free summer program hosted by the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School that introduces high school students in grades 10 to 12 to careers in oncology and cancer research. Participants join a virtual, multi-institutional cohort of roughly 120 students from across the country, learning from experts at five major universities about cancer research and clinical care. Students engage in two collaborative research projects, including hands-on lab work, gaining real experience in a field that directly impacts millions of lives. HERO is a remarkable opportunity for students interested in medicine, research, or healthcare leadership to build skills and connections at the university level.
