The Dream with Us Design Challenge is an annual competition organized by NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate that invites students in grades 6 through 12 to develop creative solutions for the future of aviation. Each year, participants respond to a specific theme rooted in real challenges NASA is actively working to solve, such as using drone technologies to improve agriculture, and submit original design proposals that make aviation safer, more sustainable, and more accessible. The competition is free to enter and open to middle and high school students across the country. It is a rare opportunity to engage directly with cutting-edge aerospace problems and gain recognition from one of the most respected scientific organizations in the world.
Breaking down a challenge and working through it methodically to a solution.
Modeling parts and products in 3D software before they're built for real.
Designing studies, testing hypotheses, and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
Planning tasks, timelines, and resources to get a project done on schedule.
Students design aviation innovations directly aligned with aerospace engineering challenges NASA addresses.
Challenge requires designing creative mechanical solutions for real-world aviation systems and technology.
Students explore drone technologies and robotic systems to solve agricultural and aviation industry problems.
