The United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP) is a prestigious, week-long educational experience held annually in Washington, D.C., for outstanding high school juniors and seniors interested in public service. Established by Senate Resolution 324 in 1962, the program brings together two student delegates from each state, the District of Columbia, and the Department of Defense Education Activity to engage directly with leaders from all three branches of the federal government. During "Washington Week," delegates meet with senators, the president, a Supreme Court justice, cabinet members, and senior media representatives, gaining firsthand insight into the workings of the U.S. government. Additionally, each delegate receives a $10,000 undergraduate college scholarship, with encouragement to pursue coursework in history, government, or public affairs.
