The High School Emerging Researcher Experience is a selective 10-week summer internship offered by Houston Methodist that places academically outstanding juniors and seniors in professional laboratory settings at one of the country's leading medical institutions. Participants work alongside undergraduate and graduate researchers in the Texas Medical Center, contributing to real translational research projects under the guidance of faculty mentors. Students gain hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and the full research process, building skills that few high schoolers have the opportunity to develop. It is an exceptional program for students passionate about medicine, science, or research who want to explore what a career in those fields truly looks like.
