The Next Narrative Monologue Competition (NNMC) is True Colors Theatre Company's signature program for high school students in grades 9 to 12, blending performance with academic growth and social-emotional development. Students perform original monologues commissioned specifically for the program and written by contemporary Black playwrights representing diverse voices across the African diaspora, including LGBTQIA+, immigrant, and women's perspectives. Through after-school classes, master classes, and in-school residencies, students work directly with professional teaching artists to develop their craft and deepen their connection to powerful, relevant storytelling. It is a unique opportunity to grow as a performer while engaging with some of the most important voices in contemporary theatre.
