The High School Research Academy (HSRA) is a five-week summer research program at the University of Texas at Austin where rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors (ages 15 and up) conduct authentic, hands-on research in College of Natural Sciences laboratories. Students spend 15 to 25 hours per week working on real projects in fields like biochemistry, neuroscience, genetics, genome engineering, and ecology alongside UT undergraduates and faculty researchers. Weekly seminars and academic enrichment activities complement the research experience, giving students a genuine preview of university-level scientific work. HSRA is an outstanding opportunity for high schoolers who are passionate about science and eager to build research skills in a prestigious university setting.
