United States Academic Decathlon

Year-round

The United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) is a prestigious team-based academic competition for high school students in grades 9 to 12, where nine-member teams compete across ten subject areas including Art, Economics, Mathematics, Science, Language and Literature, and more. Each year, all ten subjects are unified around a central thematic curriculum, and students are assessed through multiple-choice exams, essays, speeches, interviews, and performances. Teams are organized into three divisions (Honor, Scholastic, and Varsity) based on GPA, meaning students of all academic backgrounds have the opportunity to contribute and compete. It is one of the most comprehensive and intellectually rigorous competitions available to high school students, rewarding well-rounded preparation and true mastery across disciplines.
