The Conrad Challenge is a global STEM innovation and entrepreneurship competition for students ages 13 to 18 that challenges teams to design creative, real world solutions to pressing global problems. Founded in honor of Apollo astronaut Charles “Pete” Conrad, the program guides students through a structured, multi stage process that includes identifying a problem, conducting research, developing an innovative solution, and creating a viable business or implementation plan. Students compete in categories such as aerospace and aviation, cyber technology and security, energy and environment, health and nutrition, and education. Throughout the process, participants refine their ideas with feedback from mentors and industry professionals, building skills in teamwork, critical thinking, and communication. The competition culminates in the Innovation Summit at Space Center Houston, where finalist teams present their projects to expert judges from science, technology, and business fields. The program emphasizes real world innovation, entrepreneurship, and the application of STEM knowledge to meaningful global challenges while helping students develop confidence and experience in presenting and defending their ideas.
