The Summer Program for Automation, Robotics, and Coding (SPARC) is a two-week, full-day residential program hosted by NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Designed for rising 9th through 12th graders, SPARC introduces students to the fundamentals of robotics, mechatronics, and programming through hands-on projects. Participants engage in building interactive robotic devices, learning about microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, and coding constructs like variables, loops, and conditionals. The program combines concepts from computer science, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering, culminating in a "mobile manipulator challenge" where students test their creations. No prior robotics experience is required, but students should possess strong academic abilities and a keen interest in robotics. The program is held on NYU's Brooklyn campus, offering both commuter and residential options. Tuition is approximately $2,800, with additional fees for materials, events, and optional housing and meals.
