The Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (BAIR) High School Summer Program is a one-week summer immersion at UC Berkeley, hosted by the Lawrence Hall of Science, for students entering grades 10 through 12. The program is specifically designed for students with limited access to STEM mentors, first-generation college hopefuls, and those with demonstrated financial need. Participants explore cutting-edge AI technologies, concepts, and ethics while learning directly from Berkeley researchers at the forefront of artificial intelligence. It is a rare opportunity to engage with world-class AI research in an inclusive, supportive environment designed to open doors for students who might not otherwise have access to experiences like this.
Training computer models to recognize patterns and make predictions from data.
Designing studies, testing hypotheses, and drawing evidence-based conclusions.
Breaking down a challenge and working through it methodically to a solution.
Evaluating information carefully before drawing a conclusion or making a decision.
Writing code to build software, automate tasks, or bring an idea to life on a screen.
Students explore cutting-edge AI technologies and research directly aligned with machine learning development.
Program covers AI concepts and technologies requiring programming skills fundamental to software engineering.
Students learn AI research methods and data-driven problem solving from Berkeley scientists and experts.
Program exposes students to ongoing research and academic expertise in artificial intelligence at a leading research institution.
