The Digital Scholars Program is a free, six-week summer computing program offered by Discovery Partners Institute in partnership with UIC CHANCE, the UIUC Grainger College of Engineering, the UIUC College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Swift. The program is designed for rising 11th and 12th graders and incoming college freshmen, with a focus on serving Black, Latinx, female, gender-expansive, and first-generation students from Chicago Public Schools and surrounding districts. Participants choose from multiple learning tracks to build hands-on computing skills and strengthen their college and career readiness. It is a meaningful opportunity for students to gain real technical experience and connect with top universities and industry partners at no cost.
Writing code to build software, automate tasks, or bring an idea to life on a screen.

Training computer models to recognize patterns and make predictions from data.
Breaking down a challenge and working through it methodically to a solution.
Guiding a group toward a shared goal and keeping everyone moving together.
Delivering ideas clearly and confidently in front of an audience.
Students learn coding fundamentals in Java, Kotlin, and Swift through hands-on programming projects.
The Data Science Discovery track teaches data analysis and visualization using real-world datasets.
iOS App Design course teaches UI/UX design principles and mobile app prototype development.
Weekly workshops cover artificial intelligence and machine learning as key technical topics.
