The Youth Fashion Show is an annual competition hosted by the East Texas State Fair that challenges students in grades 3 through 12 to demonstrate their skills in fashion design, construction, and textile arts. Competitors participate across six divisions, including Traditional Construction, Nontraditional Construction, Smart Buying, Design Embellishment, and ReDesign, showcasing a wide range of creative and technical abilities. The competition is organized into Elementary, Middle School, and High School levels, giving students of all ages the opportunity to compete alongside their peers. Whether you are constructing an original garment from scratch or reimagining an existing piece, the Youth Fashion Show is an outstanding platform for young designers to showcase their talent and passion for fashion.
Students design, construct, and embellish garments using traditional and nontraditional methods in direct alignment with fashion design work.
Design embellishment and redesign divisions require visual composition and aesthetic decision-making skills central to graphic design.
