The Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge is a free national competition presented by the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Alliance for Musical Theatre, open to high school students across all 50 states, Washington D.C., and U.S. territories. Participants write and submit an original song for a musical theater production, receiving professional feedback on their first draft before revising and competing in the final round. This unique two-stage process gives students both a competitive opportunity and real-world development experience from working industry professionals. It is an exceptional program for aspiring composers and lyricists looking to build their craft and gain recognition on a national stage.
