Annual competition

The American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME) is a highly selective national math competition administered by the Mathematical Association of America, open only to high school students who qualify through outstanding performance on the AMC 10 or AMC 12 exams. The AIME consists of 15 challenging problems solved over three hours, with each answer being an integer from 0 to 999, demanding a level of mathematical creativity and rigor far beyond standard coursework. Top scorers on the AIME are invited to compete in the USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) or USA Junior Mathematical Olympiad (USAJMO), among the most prestigious math competitions in the country. Qualifying for the AIME is itself a remarkable achievement, and it is widely regarded as one of the most challenging and respected academic competitions available to high school students.
